The first annual Blue Vision photography festival (a.k.a Masar) was held in association with University of Tehranā€™s Blue Circle environmental group with the theme of environment, historical heritage, Noruz and a special category for showcasing the village of ghohrud from the city of Kashan. The call to action for this festival was published on the march of 2017 and after the end of the deadline on June, more than thirty-five thousand works have been submitted from over 420 cities and villages across the country. These works were reviews by our panel of judges on August 2017 and 84 submissions were selected for the festival’s exhibition. This panel included Mojtaba Aghayee (Prominent Iranian photographer, faculty member of photography department at University of Tehran and head of Fajr Visual Arts Festival), Seyfolah Samadian ( Prominent Iranian photographer, Founding member of Iranian photographer society and head of Image of the year awards) And Hedie Tehrani (Actor and Photographer and an environmental activist) Our judges also selected 9 photos as the winners of the festival and 5 additional photos for a special mention during the closing ceremony. The first edition of Blue Vision photography festival was held with support from Iranā€™s environmental organization, Tehran University of Art, Tiwal and Student Society of Ghohrud Village. The exhibition was held for 9 days in University of Tehranā€™s gallery and at the end of the exhibition, the selected photos and photographers were celebrated in the closing ceremony attended by many members of the cabinet, parliament and other ranked members of the government.

Achievements:

  • Admission of 3527 submissions from 420 cities and villages ( 1978 in the nature category, 997 in historical heritage, 302 in Noruz and 250 in the special village category)
  • 952 attendees ranged from many different educational backgrounds (51% bachelor degrees, 24% master degrees, 13% middle school students, 7% high school students, 5% Ph.D. students.)
  • More than 20 organizing members from Elite students and other environmental activists
  • Featured on two dozen newspapers, 100 News websites and also coverage on TV and Radio
  • Use of Arts to raise awareness, inspire change and also protect the environment while utilizing the tool of photographer as a change agent for sustainable development
  • Introduction of Iranā€™s many tourism destinations through the art of photography
  • Creating a platform for group work, experiential learning, and mutual respect through organizing a festival
  • Raising awareness about environment and itā€™s issue by involving students in the organizing process of the festival
  • Publication of the festivalā€™s book
